CLAY TOWNSHIP —

For the second time Sunday evening, a major injury crash occurred on Interstate 70 near the Brookville exit.

Two occupants of a black SUV slammed into the back of a semi-tanker in the left hand lane, who was slowing down due to traffic congestion from an earlier crash in the same area.

Fire crews on scene had to quickly extinguish a fire in the SUV and then extricate two occupants. Both victims were transported to Miami Valley Hospital in serious condition. Careflight was requested then canceled due to an extended ETA. No word on whether the tanker driver was injured.

All lanes of eastbound I-70 are currently closed as of 9:15pm and is expected to remain closed for hours for investigators to gather facts.
