HUBER HEIGHTS —
A 29-year-old woman was found injured near the MetroParks bike trails near Rip Rap and Powell roads Wednesday morning, and police believe she may have been the victim of an assault.
MetroParks police responded to a radio call from a maintanance worker that a woman was yelling for help from the woodline by the Great Miami River around 9:30 a.m. today.
Five River MetroParks Sgt. John Rieder said they are looking into whether an assault happened overnight, possibly around 3 a.m. Police are working on some leads, he said.
"We were able to locate a female in distress. The circumstances surrounding how she got there are still under investigation," Rieder said.
The woman was removed by medic to the local hospital for treatment. The woman was suffering from heat exhaustion and was having trouble breathing when she was found, he said.
Rieder said he asks people let the police know if they hear someone yelling for help in the parks.
