Beavercreek man dies in Tennessee lake

Staff Report

The body of a 23-year-old Beavercreek man was recovered Sunday from a lake in Tennessee following an apparent drowning a day earlier.

Ryan J. Seaton, who owned and operated a business called Mechanically Inclined, was reportedly at an area of Dale Hollow Lake known as Shear Pin Pass at the time of the incident. The Pickett County Press reported that on June 30, witnesses said Seaton jumped from a cliff and completed a triple flip before going into the water.

Seaton never resurfaced, according to reports, and was not wearing a life jacket.

Authorities recovered his body at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday in approximately 30 feet of water. His body was taken to the Tennesee Medical Examiner's office for autopsy.

The incident remains under investigation by the Pickett County Sheriff's Department and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Seaton was a 2007 graduate of Beavercreek High School, according to an obituary published Wednesday in the Dayton Daily News, our Cox Media Group Ohio partner. Visitation is set for 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road. The funeral is to immediately follow.
