Beavercreek planning to crackdown on panhandling

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio —

Beavercreek is planning to crackdown on panhandling after, police said, it has increased since Dayton banned it in July.

Dayton's ordinance went into effect July 22 and allows police to arrest individuals holding signs asking for money near roads.

Beavercreek police said those ousted panhandlers have moved to their area and are getting more aggressive and have even started approaching people getting in and out of vehicles.

Beavercreek's ordinance is still in the beginning stages, but it would likely control when, where and how panhandlers operate.

City officials said they will review the ordinance in, at least, one more work sessions before bringing it to the city council.
