Body found along Troy river identified

TROY —

The body of a 52-year-old man, believed to possibly be a homeless individual living along the Great Miami River in Troy has been removed to the Montgomery County Coroner’s office in Dayton for an autopsy.

The body of Jeffrey L. Santiago was found Sunday afternoon at the dead end of Mulberry Street in Troy at the river.

Detectives hope the autopsy will determine the exact cause of death. It’s possible the man has been dead since Friday. Troy police detective Capt. Chris Anderson says he believes the man died of natural causes.
