The body of 17-year-old Jacob Haney, who has been missing for nearly a month, was found in a wooded area on the south side of New Carlisle Monday evening.
No foul play is suspected in connection with the teen’s disappearance or death, according to Clark County Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Clark, who added that there is “still an ongoing investigation between the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Clark County Coroner’s Office.”
On Sept. 19, the sheriff’s office responded to the 1400 block of Cooper Ave. on a report of a missing juvenile. Jacob Lee Haney was reportedly last seen the evening before in the area of Smith Park in New Carlisle. He was reportedly playing basketball, according to the sheriff’s office.
He did not return home that evening and couldn’t be found the next morning. The sheriff’s office and the teen’s family members attempted to make contact with him but were unsuccessful.
When authorities traced his cell phone, they found it was last used in the area of Smith Park on Sept. 18 to send a text message.
Search teams scanned the area of the park in late September.
