Bomb threat clears Champaign Co. center

URBANA —

Authorities evacuated the Champaign County Community Center offices on U.S. 68 Friday afternoon after a bomb threat was called into the county dispatch center. The dispatch center is located in the community center.

Urbana police Lt. Seth King said authorities received the call shortly before 3 p.m.

Champaign County deputies, Urbana police and Urbana firefighters searched the building with the assistance of maintenance workers but no bomb was located.

The call was determined to be a hoax, and everyone was allowed back into the building at 4:15 p.m.

An investigation continues.
