Burglar pinned for police

DAYTON —

In an attempt to flee after burglarizing a home at 112 Clover, Michael Wood, 46 was chased down the street by the resident, caught and pinned down until police arrived and took him into custody; A Dayton Police report stated.

Around 4:30pm Friday afternoon, police were dispatched to the home of Daniel Cortes, who told the arresting officer, returning home he noticed the side window was open and the door was unlocked. Upon entering, he yelled for his room mates, who did not reply. He noticed his bedroom light was on and picked up a piece of wood and walked toward his bedroom.

At that moment, Cortes continued, Wood walked out of the bedroom, looked at Cortes, said “sorry”, and walked out the side door and started running. Cortes chased him to the intersection of Quitman and Little, yelling to a women as he was running to call the police.

Wood was caught and pinned by Cortes at 371 Quitman, holding him down until police arrived and arrested Wood on charges of Burglary.

The police report states Wood was attempting to steal DVD’s.

News Center 7 learned that detectives were assigned to the incident and have questioned Wood.
