Butler Co. woman fights off attacker

OXFORD TWP., Butler County —

An Oxford Twp. woman fought off an attacker after he held a knife on her in her Indian Creek Road home.

The woman was moving flower pots on an outside deck at about 1:30 p.m. Monday and walked into the house to find an armed man in the living room, according to Butler County sheriff's Sgt. Mike Craft.

The attacker grabbed the woman, held a knife to her throat and attempted to removed her clothes, Craft said. But the woman was able to fight off the attack and punched the man in the throat.

She then ran upstairs, locked herself in the bedroom, then in a closet and called 911.

The victim was treated and released from McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford for cuts to her hand from the knife.

"Her actions gave her enough time to get away," Craft said. "And may have saved her life."

The attacker was described as a white male in his 30s, with brown hair and a mustache. He was wearing a camouflage shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious in the area is asked to call the sheriff's office at (513) 785-1300.
