UNION TWP., Champaign County —

The driver of a sport utility vehicle that was hit by a semitrailer Wednesday morning on U.S. 36 at Ludlow Road has died of her injuries.

Stephanie White, 37, of Galloway, was headed north and failed to stop at a posted stop sign at Ludlow Road at about 9:45 a.m. when her SUV was struck by a 2006 Peterbilt commercial truck headed east on 36, the Ohio Highway Patrol post at Marysville reported Wednesday night.

White was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital not long after she arrived there via CareFlight, according to the patrol.

Two children in the Pontiac, ages 6 and 7, suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Mercy Hospital in Urbana. The patrol did not make it immediately clear whether the children were White’s. Their conditions were not known Wednesday night.

The driver of the semi, 57-year-old Robert Zoeller of New Albany, Ind., was not injured, according to the patrol.

According to the patrol’s preliminary investigation, the semi continued off the north side of Route 36 after the collision, struck a utility pole and a forklift before coming to a stop.

The Pontiac continued off the south side of 36 and hit a phone junction box, according to the investigation.

Crews from the Urbana Fire Department, Mechanicsburg EMS and Champaign County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene along with the troopers.
