OXFORD, Ohio —

The son of U.S. Representative Steve Chabot has been charged with breaking and entering and making a false alarm, police said.

Brandon "Randy" Chabot is a student at Miami University.

Oxford Police told WHIO-TV's Cincinnati affiliate Local12 that they found the 22-year-old at 2:05 a.m. Sunday outside the McCullough Hyde Annex building on Morningside Road.

Officers arrived at the building after a fire alarm sounded, according to Local12's report.  When they questioned Chabot police said he appeared highly intoxicated and gave off a strong odor of alcohol.

They said Chabot falsely claimed he worked in the building.

Upon further investigation police discovered two panes of glass were kicked out of a door to the building. Steve Chabot is a congressman representing the 1st District, which includes Warren County and parts of Butler and Hamilton counties.
