MIAMI VALLEY —

A heat advisory will be in effect again tomorrow from noon to 8 p.m. along with the excessive heat warning for Montgomery County for the same times.

Advisories are issued by the National Weather Service.

The chance of severe storms mirroring what the Miami Valley has experienced within the past several days decreased for the rest of Monday afternoon and evening, but the risk of more storms and heat is not over.

According to Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson, Friday's and Sunday's storms have taken most of the humidity out of the air and that makes ruling out more storms impossible. The chance of less severe storms continues overnight Monday if weather near Green Bay, Wisc., slides this far south. More storm activity could be expected for Wednesday and Thursday.

"I have good news and bad news in regard to the heat," Simpson said. "The good news is the end of the heat is in sight. Probably Saturday is the last day above 90. The bad news is Saturday we could hit 100 again."

Today's expected high temperature is 99 degrees, according to Simpson. Friday and Saturday look to be dry with a chance of more storms as a cold front moves in Sunday.

Meantime, heat advisories remain in effect for most of the Miami Valley as temperatures remain high and as several communities set up cooling stations for residents.

There is an excessive heat warning in effect for Montgomery County, which means there has been a heat index of at least 105 degrees for more than three hours per day for two consecutive days, according to the National Weather Service.

The heat wave will continue with highs this week expected in the mid 90s, according to Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Rich Wirdzek. The possibility of thunderstorms will increase on Tuesday and on the Fourth of July afternoon.

Officials in Kettering said the Kettering Recreation Center and the Senior Center are closed; however, the water park at the Kettering Rec Center is open. They also said swim lessons are still scheduled and swimmers can enter through the water park.

News Center 7 was also told that child immunization has been cancelled.
