Dayton Family Dollar robbed at gunpoint

An 18-year-old Family Dollar clerk was robbed at gunpoint while on the job at 1130 North Main St. in Dayton Tuesday evening.

According to a Dayton police report, the clerk told officers that a man wearing a white shirt and white hat came in the store around 7:30 p.m. and ordered the clerk to open the register. Although the teenager said he complied, the suspect reportedly became agitated and struck the clerk twice on the left side of his face with a firearm.

The man was last seen walking across North Main Street, towards Forest Avenue, according to police.

The suspect’s handgun was described as “chrome and black,” according to the report. A store manager said she saw the suspect leaving the store and the man pointed the gun in her direction. She quickly retreated back into the Family Dollar.

The investigation is ongoing.
