Dayton police say they have suspect in rape

By Staff Report

DAYTON, Ohio —

Police say they have a possible suspect in a kidnapping and rape that occurred during the weekend, News Center 7 has learned.

Dayton police said they have been able to trace the license plate of a vehicle a woman said was used by a man in an attack on her at about 5 :30 a.m. Saturday.

The 41-year-old woman told police she was walking alone on Santa Clara Avenue when a man in a car pulled up, called her over and pulled out a gun. She said he forced her into the car, where he raped and robbed her.

When he forced her out of the car, she was able to record the license plate number. Police traced the number to a woman who said she had let someone borrow her car. Police recovered evidence from that car and have a suspect, but no arrest had been made as of 4 p.m. Monday.
