DAYTON —

Police officers are looking for a man who stole a car during an attempted drug deal.

The carjacking took place in an alley between West Second and Greenway streets just after 10 a.m. today. According to a Dayton police report, a 24-year-old man said he was driving in the area looking to “buy some marijuana.” He saw who would become the alleged carjacker and inquired about a pot purchase.

The two moved behind a vacant house at 2416 Greenway St. As soon as the man stopped the vehicle, he said he was threatened with a silver semiautomatic handgun. He was told to get out of the vehicle or he would be killed, according to the report.

The man said he did not see which direction the man fled in his vehicle, a Dodge Magnum. He was not injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call Dayton Police.
