DAYTON, Ohio —

Police in Dayton said the driver of a vehicle has been taken into custody after flipping the car onto its top Wednesday morning.

Dayton Police Sgt. Michael Godsy said witnesses told police one car occupied by two people struck a parked car in the 100 block of Basswood Avenue and attempted to flee at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle flipped onto its top on Newport Avenue. The driver attempted to flee on foot and left the passenger behind. The passenger has been taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police soon located the driver.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Names have not been released and the investigation is ongoing.
