TIPP CITY —

A volunteer with the Tippecanoe Farmers’ Market was arrested Monday on a charge accusing her of stealing $3,409 that should have gone to local businesses and manufacturers connected to the market.

Rebecca Woodward is accused of using the money for personal gain, Tipp City police said Monday.

The arrest was the culmination of an investigation that began May 30 when representatives of the farmers’ market met with police over concerns that a volunteer may have stolen approximately $3,400 over several months, according to police.

Woodward was described by representatives of the market as someone who had “unprecedented access and opportunity to funds that should have been paid to local businesses and manufacturers to insure a successful farmers’ market season.”
