The sheriff of Mercer County said Thursday that a man and his daughter were shot during an apparent burglary near Fort Recovery.

Sheriff Jeff Grey said there were items thrown about the house of Robert and Colleen Grube. He said it appears that someone was looking for something specific before tying up the two with duct tape and killing them.

A relative found the two bodies on Wednesday morning when Colleen Grube did not show up to baby-sit as she had promised.

Grey said someone got into the home and ransacked it . He said state investigators took a lot of evidence from the house, but as of now, no other information has been released. There was no signs of  forcible enter into the home. It is unknown if anything is missing from the Grube house on Burrville Road.

The sheriff also wanted people of Mercer County to not panic. He said residents should lock their doors and beware of their surroundings.
