Staff Report

TIPP CITY, Ohio —

Authorities said the Burger King in Tipp City was damaged by fire late Monday night, causing the restaurant to remain closed on Tuesday.

The fire and smoke sent three employees into the parking lot without any injuries.

Firefighters from Tipp City were dispatched to the scene around 9:30 p.m., which is located 952 W. Main St., on a report of a fire in the ceiling. The flames soon spread and the incident became a working structure fire with an evacuation, according to Tipp City Fire Chief Steve Kessler.

According to an initial investigation, the fire is believed to have started either in a restroom or an office.

The fire was contained to the one area of the restaurant and was quickly brought under control, a fire official said. On Tuesday, officials said $80,000 in damage was done to the structure and contents.

According to fire officials, there were no customers in the business at the time of the fire. The restaurant will not be open for business Tuesday as the investigation continues. Fire officials said the cause of the fire is listed as undetermined, but not suspicious.

Tipp City called for mutual aid from neighboring West Milton for a truck and man power.
