Former West Carrollton students accused of theft

WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio —

Two former students are accused of stealing from their old high school at West Carrollton.

The two former students are accused of stealing hundreds of dollars in cash from inside an athletic office, police said.

According to officers, the two teenage boy and girl were seen in the high school around 7:30 a.m. Someone said they identified them as former students who were enrolled at the school a few months ago.

The two apparently slipped their way into the athletic office when the director stepped out and took off with two bags of money, police said.

Officers were called and searched the area, but they could not find the teens. However, police said they are confident that they know who they are looking for.

Police said they would not confirm what the stolen money was for, and if it was part of some type of fundraiser.

Deputy Chief Douglas Woodard said, "At this time, we are still getting a final tally, but it's a significant amount of money, probably hundreds."

He also said nine times out of 10 the money would have been locked up, but this time, the money was not secured.

News Center 7 contacted the superintendent's office, but no comment has been made.

Police said they are working to view surveillance video from inside the school.
