Girl falls from ski lift near Bellefontaine

Staff Report

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio —

An 11-year-old girl fell 15 feet off a ski lift Wednesday afternoon at Mad River Mountain in Zanesfield, said Capt. Tim Wenger of Zanesfield Fire Department.

The child, from Gahanna, was on a school trip at the facility, about 45 minutes outside Columbus at 1000 Snow Valley Road, he said.

She was with two or three other girls on the lift when she dropped her ski pole, Wenger said.  She leaned over for the pole and fell, he said.

She hit her left side and back but was alert afterward, complaining of pain in her pelvic area, Wenger said. She was taken by Careflight to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, said Wenger, who noted that he believed her injuries were minor.
