Power restored for Greene County residents

Staff Report

GREENE COUNTY —

The more than 900 homes in the northeastern part of Greene County that lost power Wednesday night have had their service restored, according to Dayton Power & Light.

DP&L spokesman Kevin Hall said the outage was caused by a large tree that fell and hit power lines near Central State University. He said there were numerous reports of gusting wind in the area before the tree was reported to have fallen at about 7:30 p.m.

Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said that at the time, there were isolated wind gusts of 40 mph to 50 mph in the area.

DP&L's Hall said 790 customers had their power restored within a half-hour and the rest were restored by 9:20 p.m.
