Hamilton Co. theft suspect may be local man

Staff Report

HAMILTON COUNTY —

A man believed to be living in either Montgomery or Greene county is wanted for questioning by Hamilton County sheriff’s deputies in the theft of a grill from a hardware store.

Deputies are investigating the theft from McCabe Hardware, 10821 Montgomery Road, in Sycamore Twp. The theft was reported on Sept. 2 at about 2:30 p.m.

The suspect is white, 50 to 55 years old, about 5-feet-9-inches tall and 230 pounds. According to deputies, he is balding with brownish grey hair and wore dark shoes, white socks, shorts, and white T-shirt at the time of the theft.

The thief walked into the store and claimed he paid for the grill that was to be delivered to his home. The employee did not ask for a bill of sale and gave the man a grill and reimbursed the $50 delivery fee.

The total loss to the store was about $480, according to deputies.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact Detective Douglas Todd at (513) 851-6000.
