Staff Report

XENIA, Ohio —

Authorities said a woman and her children survived a head-on crash that happened late Sunday night.

According to police, a man hit her after bouncing off a boat. The crash happened on State Route 68.

Christal Tucker said, “I slammed on my brakes.”

She said it was too late to avoid a head-on collision, causing her SUV to hit a Cadillac and then go off into a ditch.

Investigators said, in the end, three drivers were involved in the crash. They said the man who caused the crash was driving the Cadillac when he crossed the center line as he headed to Xenia and slammed into a boat that was being towed by a couple in a pickup truck.

The couple hauling the boat pulled off the side of the road as the man then hit the  SUV head-on. The woman was driving with three of her four children.

“The tire came off, and then I went across the road on top of the caddy. I really don’t know,” Tucker said.

Tucker said while rescue crews cut the man who was driving the Cadillac out of his car, medics transported the Tucker and her children by ambulance to a local hospital.

The driver of the Cadillac was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

Police said they are looking at several potential factors involved in the crash.
