Homeowner tied up with shoelaces during burglary

DAYTON, Ohio —

Police said a Dayton man walked through his front door and walked in on a burglary in progress.

According to officers, the thieves then tied up the homeowner with some shoelaces. The burglary happened on Kulmer Avenue on Tuesday night.

Police said the victim came home and found two men inside his home. He said one person pistol-whipped him and then tied him up with his shoelaces. The victim also told police that the thieves took about $5,000 worth of items from his house, including a gun.

The men left the victim on the floor, but police said, once he got untied, he called for help.

According to police, the men may have gotten away in a purple Chrysler Concorde.
