Resident taken to hospital following Piqua fire

PIQUA, Ohio —

A woman was taken to a local hospital after a house fire on Wednesday night.

The fire happened at 821 Willard Street and was reported around 6:20 p.m.

Mike Peltier, Piqua Fire Department assistant chief,  said two rooms of the home were heavily damaged by fire.

The resident was already outside and across the street when firefighters arrived. Her condition is not known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Peltier estimated damage at $10,000 to $40,000.
