I-70 open after grass fire

Staff Report

PREBLE COUNTY —

Both eastbound and westbound lanes on Interstate 70 are back open near the Preble and Montgomery county line after they were closed for about 30 minutes.

A person mowing the grass in a ditch on Lewisburg Road hit a pole, bringing down two power lines, police said. Lewisburg Road runs parallel to Interstate 70. The power lines started a fire and were across the highway for about 30 to 40 minutes, police said.

Police said motorists were initially driving over the power lines before crews were able to removed them from the highway.
