Local hospitals seeing more injuries from sledding

SOUTHWEST OHIO —

The biggest storm of the winter season hit the Miami Valley last week, and that led to area hospitals treating more for sledding accident injuries.

In the U.S., about 20,000 head to the hospital every year because of injuries from sledding.

In the last week, Kettering Memorial Hospital reports seeing 12 cases.

Dr. Christina Smith, of Kettering Health Network, said they’ve seen a lot of contusions, bruises and sprains. Most of cases have been minor, Smith said.
