DAYTON —

A Dayton man faces several misdemeanor charges after neighbors said he was making threatening statements with a sword in hand on Sunday evening.

Dallas Lee Tipton, 46, was arrested on suspicion of assault, three counts of aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct and violating a protection order. He was arrested on the 2000 block of Bellefontaine Avenue.

After officers located him he was almost immediately identified by neighbors as a neighborhood nuisance. One man said he confronted Tipton before police arrived and Tipton “tried to get me to attack him,” according to a Dayton police report.

“When I wouldn’t he pulled a knife on me,” the man said.

Once in police custody, Tipton complained of shortness of breath and dizziness. He was taken to Grandview Hospital. After he was released, he was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
