A man suffered third degree burns after a camper explosion at an Auglaize County campground Friday night.

AUGLAIZE COUNTY, Ohio —

A man was injured in a Friday night explosion at an Auglaize County campground.

Around 8:45 p.m., Buckland Fire Chief Todd Vorhees said propane caused an explosion at Easy’s Restaurant and Campground at 143338 Townline Kossuth Road near St. Marys. A man, believed to be in his fifties, was living there. He suffered third degree burns to his hands, arms and face.

Vorhees said that somehow flame made contact with the propane, causing the explosion.

St. Marys Fire Captain Doug Ayers said that the victim was taken to a local hospital and then transferred by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital. The victim has not been identified.

Chief Vorhees said the Coachman motor home was a total loss.  There was also some damage to a trailer next door.
