Man charged in group home candlestick attack

TIFFIN, Ohio —

Police said a resident of an adult group home in northern Ohio was charged with attempted aggravated murder after using a wrought iron candlestick in an attack on three residents and an employee.

The attack happened Monday in Tiffin, about 40 miles southeast of Toledo. Tiffin police Lt. Michelle Craig told the Advertiser-Tribune that two victims were hospitalized and two were treated and released.

Police don't know any motive.

The suspect, 32-year-old Jack Berry, had a video arraignment in Tiffin Municipal Court. Bond was set at $1 million.

A message seeking comment was left Tuesday for his court-appointed attorney.

The group home gets referrals from an agency that provides mental health and addiction rehabilitation treatment.
