DAYTON —

Dayton Police are investigating a possibly drug-related shooting that occurred at the intersection of Kammer and North Woodward avenues Tuesday evening.

The 27-year-old victim called police just before 6 p.m. and reported that he’d been shot and was driving himself to Miami Valley Hospital. He was shot in the upper arm.

Police said they recovered a “sizeable amount,” reportedly several grams, of heroin in the victim’s vehicle.

“It appears that he was sitting inside his vehicle when he was shot,” said Dayton Lt. Wendy Stiver. Witnesses reported seeing several vehicles parked near the intersection of Kammer and Woodward just after a gunshot was heard, but their connection to the shooting is unknown.

The victim described his assailants as two black men in a truck, police said.

“The victim is not being very cooperative and so far that’s all we’ve got,” Stiver said. She said police were looking into the drug angle but did not know yet if the victim would be arrested in connection to the heroin found in his car.

The victim’s injury is considered non-life-threatening and he is being treated at Miami Valley Hospital.
