Man reportedly stabbed with pocket knife on Irwin Street

Staff Report

Police found a 41-year-old an laying in a yard on Superba Court Saturday night and witnesses said he was the victim of a stabbing.

No arrests have been made in connection with the alleged stabbing. Police around 7:30 p.m. were sent to Irwin Street — between Second and Third streets — to handle a felonious assault call, according to a police report obtained Sunday. The victim was found on his back in a nearby yard and bleeding from his face. A witness described the suspect as about 5-feet-9-inches tall, reddish-brown hair and wearing an orange shirt. She stated the man was attacked with a knife, and the suspect fled north on Irwin.

The 41-year-old man was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he later told officers he was attacked from behind while walking south on Irwin, according to the police report. He said the suspect got on top of him and pulled out a folding pocket knife and tried to stab the man five or six times.

During the alleged attack, the man suffered two lacerations to the left cheek and was bruised under his left eye, according to the report. The man told police he had met the suspect the night before.

An evidence crew responded to the scene on Saturday night. The investigation is ongoing.
