Man says two with gun tried to rob him

DAYTON —

A man told police two men tried to rob him while he was walking on Monday night.

The victim said he was walking on a sidewalk at the front of Westown Shopping Center at West Third Street and North Gettysburg Avenue when two suspects ran up on him. One was wearing a white T-shirt and was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, according to the victim.

The victim said the suspect with the gun pointed at him, told him to give him everything he had and to throw it on the ground. The victim told police a second suspect had a red baggy over his face and was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

That suspect tried to get behind the victim to block him from moving, according to the report.

The victim took off, attempting to escape, and ran to a nearby Shell Gas Station, where he called police.

Before getting to the gas station, the suspect fired one round at the victim, according to the report.Police said they did not locate a shell casing and the suspects did not get anything from the victim.

No suspects have been identified.
