Man speeds away in delivery driver’s car

By Andy Sedlak

DAYTON —

A pizza delivery driver was left without a vehicle on Friday night when someone slipped into his car and drove away while his back was turned.

The incident unfolded around 10 p.m. on the 100 block of Marathon Avenue. The driver contacted police and said his vehicle was stolen as he was standing at a door trying to complete a delivery.

According to a Dayton police report, the driver worked for Donatos Pizza. The 51-year-old man said he turned his 2005 Saturn Vue off but left the keys in the ignition.

While on a front porch, he noticed a man jump into the driver’s side of the vehicle and speed away northbound on Marathon.

There are “honor student” and Englewood Little League stickers on the back of the car. Anyone who sees the car is asked to call police at (937) 333-COPS.
