UNION TWP., Montgomery County —

A man who landed on his head in a motor bike crash Wednesday night was taken to Miami Valley Hospital suffering from serious injuries.

The condition of the man, who is in his 60s, was not immediately available.

He was not wearing a helmet as he rode the motor bike in a wooded area behind a home in the 3600 block of Sweet Potato Ridge Road. Friends and family were in the area also when he flipped on the bike and landed on his head, Clayton fire Capt. Paula Creech said.

Creech said the man was unconscious when fire/rescue crews arrived. His injuries were considered serious, she said. The accident occurred at about 8:30 p.m.

“It is always important to wear a helmet. Two years old to 70 years old, helmets are critical. Often the first thing that is going to hit the ground is your head in these types of accidents on motorcycles, ATVs and bicycles,” Creech said.
