MIDDLETOWN, Butler County —
Officers responded to an armed robbery on North Grimes Street, and when police arrived the suspect tried to run, throwing his weapon in the process, according to the Middletown Division of Police.
Chad Wright, 30, of Middletown, took off running on foot after he pointed a loaded handgun at the victim. Wright stole cash from the victim, according to a release.
The incident occurred outside a home at 116 N. Grimes around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday. When the first officers arrived on the scene, they noticed Wright walking away from the crime scene. Police chased Walker for a short time, and during the foot pursuit Walker tossed the handgun used in the crime on top of a house of Leibee Street. Walker was eventually stopped and arrested, according to police.
Wright was booked into the Middletown City Jail and is being charged with aggravated robbery, obstructing justice, carrying a concealed weapon, tampering with evidence and weapons under disability.
The Middletown Division of Police continues to investigate the incident.
