Knock on front door leads to home invasion

Staff Report

DAYTON, Ohio —

A residence on the 300 block of East Bruce Avenue was the target of a home invasion robbery early Monday morning when a handful of men wearing panty hose over their heads barged in and stole items ranging from electronics to clothes.

After responding to the residence around 1 a.m., police were told those inside heard a knock on their door. Upon answering, the three masked men forced their way in. According to a police report obtained Monday, they repeatedly asked, "Where's the money?"

At least one person was pistol whipped. The suspects had black trash bags in their possession, according to the report, and what was believed to be a small-caliber black revolver.

Among the items reported stolen were a laptop, cell phone, 32-inch flatscreen Samsung TV, clothes and video games.

The suspects fled the home going west on Bruce and then south onto Kathleen Avenue. Police searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects.
