Police investigate Middletown shooting

Staff Report

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio —

Police have identified a suspect involved in an early morning drive-by shooting.

Just before 2 a.m. Friday, Middletown police responded to 930 18th Ave. on reports a man had been shot in foot. Officers found Joshua Banks, 26, of Plymouth Avenue in Middletown with a single gunshot wound to his lower right leg between the foot and ankle.

Police said witnesses stated Banks was standing inside the front door of the residence when a silver, four-door vehicle drove by and a black male passenger fired three to four rounds.

Lt. Scott Reeve said a suspect has been identified, but so far they are not releasing any names.

Two of the shots went through the front door, one striking Banks. He was treated and released from Atrium Medical Center.

“Witnesses said they were fighting over a girl but we don’t know yet,” Reeve said.

The silver vehicle fled east on 18th Avenue and south on State Route 4.
