SHELBY COUNTY, Ohio —
A pregnant mother injured in a traffic crash May 13 at Houston Road and Patterson-Halpin Road near Lockington died Tuesday morning, Shelby County deputies and the coroner's office has confirmed.
Kristina Diane (Sprague) Hoffman, 39, of Kenton, Ohio, formerly of Shelby County, was the victim in the Mother's Day accident. The cause of death likely was blunt force trauma, according to the coroner's office.
Her obituary lists five children. Hoffman was eight months pregnant when the crash occurred. She gave birth the evening of the crash at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where Hoffman died nine days later. The baby is doing well.
Her son, Brayden, was also injured in the crash. Her husband, Scott, according to the sheriff's report, was riding in the car, but was not injured.
Kristina was driving, according to sheriff's Sgt. Tim Bender.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cromes Funeral Home in Sidney.
