MIAMI TWP. —
A motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries in a collision with a car Friday afternoon at West Alex Bell and Munger roads.
“The rider is in pretty bad shape,” Maj. John DiPietro, Miami Twp. deputy police chief, told News Center 7.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears that a woman driving the car collided with the bike, which was eastbound on West Alex Bell, at about 5:10 p.m.
The woman refused treatment at the scene. The motorcyclist was taken to Kettering Hospital, DiPietro said.
The collision caused traffic on both of those roads to be shut down at least 30 to 45 minutes while police investigated the accident.
Weather or traffic conditions were not factors in the crash, DiPietro said.
Police also said drugs or alcohol didn’t appear to be factors. No one was cited at the scene.
“With nice weather that is out here, it is always important to look both ways before you pull out, motorcycles don’t stand out like vehicles,” DiPietro said. “There is this motto ‘look twice save a life,’ certainly that would be our message based on what we are seeing today.”
