Motorcyclist injured on U.S. 68

Staff Report

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Clark County —

A motorcyclist was injured early Sunday morning after an accident on U.S. 68 near U.S. 40.

State troopers said James D. Richart, 53, of Urbana was westbound on U.S. 40. They said he tried to merge onto U.S. 68 heading north. His motorcycle went off the left side of the road crossing U.S. 68.

The motorcycle continued through the median and overturned.

Troopers said he was ejected, landing in the grassy median.

Richart was taken by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

Investigators said alcohol may be a factor in the crash.
