TROTWOOD, Ohio —

Two high school students were injured in a Wednesday morning crash on Westbrook Road in Trotwood.

According to authorities, a blue Nissan slid on ice and struck a utility pole, which split in half. The utility pole crashed through the Nissan's windshield between the passenger and driver seats.

Both occupants, who are Brookville High School students who attend the Miami Valley Career Technology Center, were taken to area hospitals. The passenger was reported to have serious injuries.

The crash happened just around 8 a.m near the intersection of Westbrook Road and Diamond Mill. As of 9:50 a.m., Westbrook Road in Trotwood remained closed.
