DAYTON —
One person was taken to a local hospital Monday night after a crash involving her sedan and pickup truck at South Smithville Road and Burkhardt Avenue.
The pickup truck, which was headed north on Smithville, apparently turned into oncoming traffic, according to Dayton police Officer Willie Hooper.
The impact involving the truck and a Cadillac sent the truck into trees near the intersection, Hooper said. The driver of the truck apparently was not injured and was given traffic citations for having expired license plates and turning in front of oncoming traffic, Hooper said.
A woman driving the Cadillac was taken to a local hospital, where her condition was not immediately known, but Hooper said she apparently was sent into the windshield as a result of the impact.
Fire and rescue crews were dispatched to the area at about 8 p.m. on a report of an accident with injuries.
According to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch, traffic on the two streets was not shut down, but a Neighborhood Assistance Officer has been sent to help direct traffic.
