MIAMI TWP. —

Montgomery County law enforcement officials are searching a wooded area for a person suspected of stealing a vehicle.

A dispatch sergeant confirmed the search began in the area of 5250 Pinemount Drive in Miami Twp. just after 9 a.m. today. A K9 unit is involved in the search.

Deputies said the van was stolen Wednesday evening and then was spotted in the area Thursday morning. When deputies responded, the suspect fled on foot into a wooded area.

As of 9:35 a.m. officers had set up a perimeter around the 2-square-mile area. They reportedly found a jacket in the woods, but had not located the suspect as of 11 a.m.

Some tools were missing from the van when the suspect abandoned it, so deputies are searching local job sites for those tools.
