CAMDEN, Preble County —

One woman suffered severe injuries Tuesday night in a two-vehicle accident on Camden College Corner Road.

A 31-year-old woman driving a red Volkswagen was headed west on Camden College Corner Road when she went left of center and collided with an oncoming gray Jeep Cherokee driven by a 55-year-old Eaton woman, said Sgt. David Robinson, with the Dayton post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Jeep was taken by a medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital suffering from severe injuries that included a compound fracture in her lower torso. The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital suffering from serious injuries.

Robinson said the 31-year-old woman may not have been familiar with the area, noting that she stopped earlier at a local fire department for directions.

“Back roads, curves, hills and with a little crest in the hill right here.  The Jeep was coming over the hill when she is traveling westbound and a vehicle goes little of center, not a whole lot the Jeep could do,” said Robinson.

The driver of the Volkswagen will be cited failing to maintain control of her vehicle.

Neither speed, drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash, according to the patrol.
