NEW MADISON, Ohio —

Students, teachers and the staff at Tri-Village Schools in New Madison in Darke County raised more than $3,500 to make Christmas merrier for 6 families in their school district,  plus an additional  half dozen other children.

The gifts were delivered Thursday morning, bringing tears to the eyes of several teachers who made the deliveries.

By afternoon, laughter echoed through the school as the high school principal, the elementary principal, second grade teacher Mrs. Thomas and high school science teacher Mr. Frese had pies thrown in their faces during an assembly.

By 1:15 p.m. school had early dismissal for the Christmas holiday season.
