Pizza delivery driver beaten, robbed

Staff Report

DAYTON, Ohio —

Dayton police hope security footage will lead them to a group of apparent juveniles who beat and robbed a pizza delivery driver early Sunday.

A driver for Cousin Vinny’s Pizza told police that a group of about 10 juveniles approached him in the parking lot of United Foods, 2141 North Main Street, to buy a pizza. When the driver exited his car, one member of the group grabbed and ran off with a delivery bag containing 2 pizzas and bread sticks. The others circled the driver, taunted him and punched him in the head.

When the driver began to fight back, one of the assailants pulled a handgun and struck him in the head.

A security guard at United Foods verified the victim’s account of what happened and showed officer’s surveillance of the attack. Most of the incident was caught on camera and further verified the driver’s story.

The victim’s injuries were not serious. No arrests have been made.
