GERMANTOWN, Montgomery County —

Police are investigating an incident involving a man accused of trying to restrain a boy against his will at Kercher Park in Germantown on Wednesday.

It's the second time in the past two weeks police have been called about a man approaching a young boy at the park on Astoria Road.

It is unknown if the two incidents are related.

Police said the most recent incident took place Wednesday when a man grabbed a 9-year-old boy's shoulder at about 7 p.m. in an attempt to restrain him. The child then struck the suspect and the man fled the scene.

The suspect was described as white, 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall, wearing red shorts and a blue T-shirt.

The first incident occurred June 3, when a man driving a maroon van approached a 9-year-old boy playing basketball at Kercher Park and asked the him if he liked cars, according to a Germantown police report.  The suspect then asked if the boy wanted to get into his vehicle. When the boy refused, the suspect drove away.
