Police released more details today about the investigation into a man who allegedly engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl.

Kenneth E. Shannon, 61, is out on bond pending a preliminary court hearing on the fourth degree felony.

Shannon was arrested March 6 after the daughter of one of his neighbors admitted to having sex with him in his bed, according to the Eaton police incident report.

Police said the victim’s parents became concerned when the teen left home at 6:30 p.m., according to the report.

Officers tracked the teen’s footprints from her home to the suspect’s home on East Mechanic’s Street, but no one there would answer the door, according to the report.

The teen returned home at approximately 11:30 p.m. and she was taken to the hospital with a detective and victim’s advocate, according to the report.

Shannon had previously worked for the city of Eaton prior to the alleged incident.
